7 PRINCIPLES OF LINK BUILDING

Without doubt, link building is one of the most important ant factor in search engine optimization. 7 principles to effective link building are listed below:

1. Relevancy: Relevancy is very important in any link building campaign, not that other links will not count but relevant links will make you get faster results. An example of link building relevancy is an hotel website linking to another hotel website, but an example of link building irrelevancy is an hotel website linking to an hospital website.

2. Quality: The quality of link building matters a lot i.e. the quality of the website linking to you. There is always a good and effective result if a popular website with lot of visitors link to you than a website that rarely gets visitors linking to you: This is because so many people do create hundreds of blogs/sites solely for the purpose of link building, thereby pointing all of them to a single domain in order to inflate their search engine rankings.

3. Anchor text: So many people overlook this very important factor, a search for “click here” on google will bring adobe which has no trace of “click here” on it as no 1.

Right usage of anchor text can make you rank for a keyword that wasn’t even used on your website, so do not overlook the use of anchor text. It is also important not to be using a single anchor text but use varia tions of anchor text.

4. Consistency: Sometimes ago when i just started this website, I do recieve a lot of visitors from google just to discover i was no longer recieving visits from google for more than one month. Fortunately enough, I registered at sheerseo just to discover that my link profile has jumped from 46-520(hopeyou really see this is a huge difference).

Link building consistency is very important i.e. if you want to start with ten links, make sure you don’t build less than ten links in a day.

5. Social Media: So many people love to be social, and I am happy google also loves to be social. Use social bookmarking sites like digg, stumbleupon, reddit, delicious e.t.c. and the results you will get will be amazing(I think i wouldn’t say more than that).

6. Deep Link: This is another important overlooked link building factor that has worked wonders for me. Instead of targeting an highly competitive keyword for your homepage, look for less competitive keywords for other pages of your website and within a little period of time it will be easy for you to dominate that hihly competitive keyword.

7. Avoid linking to bad websites: I wonder how you will feel if a single website you link to makes all your link building methods ineffective. It is unfortunate that identifying bad websites isa very difficult task to do manually, check my post on “identifying bad websites” for how to do it manually.
