I have been writing posts similar to this in my guest posts, so I came up with an idea today, that why not write a post like this for your blog.
NOTE: This is the longest post I ever wrote and In fact I don’t want everybody to read it, I only want those that are ready for change to read it. If you think you are OK. please go now, this post is not for you.
Achieving success is not easy and it takes time, following the right steps will help you reduce your 40 years journey to 40 days. Below are some great steps to becoming a successful blogger.
- Passion:
Everybody has one passion or the other, our passion is different from each other. You must not necessarily blog in a particular niche because your friends are in it or because someone who is considered an authority is also in the same niche. You might have your mentor in the personal development niche, it does not necessary mean you also should blog in the personal development niche. You should be able to locate yourself and discover your passion. What are you good at than in any other thing? What is that you can’t do without? What do you so much love that you can sacrifice your food for? What do you always find yourself doing when you never even planned to do it? Your passion might be in the food niche, it doesn’t matter what every other person thinks or say about your passion, it is very important to follow your passion; it will help you sooner or later. You might get discouraged sometimes in your blogging journey; it is your passion that will keep you moving. Take me for an example, I blog even when I am sick (just as I am doing now), I blog even when I am hungry, I so much love blogging in the make money online niche, I love entrepreneur related things. You hardly can see me with friends but you will always find be in front of my computer doing one thing or the other, you should not be told before you know what my passion is. If you are following your passion, you won’t care about what others say, whether it is positive or negative, whether it is to discourage you or otherwise, you will keep on moving forward, doing what pleases your heart and before you could even open your mouth, you would have achieved more than you could dream of. Your passion also helps you keep focused, it is very easy to get distracted especially when on the internet, but with you following your passion, there is no going back. - Action:
You might be the best “dreamer”, have the best goal, have the brightest future, think than any other person, you might have the best ideas, you might have the strongest faith but not taking action will make sure you don’t get anywhere (and I mean anywhere). It doesn’t matter who you are or what you have read, it doesn’t matter what you have been taught or what you know and in fact it doesn’t matter who your teacher is, you can’t have success without taking action. The most serious challenges are faced when getting started, I mean before you get started. You just have to get started irrespective of what you face. You have to deal with your fears because your fears are your greatest enemy, your fears will prevent you from getting started, your fears will stop you from taking action, your fears will stop you from taking steps that can forever change your mind. You don’t need to listen to “that thing” that is always whispering negativity into your soul. We are all humans, consisting of the body, spirit and soul. We are bound to face challenges, we are bound to see trouble, we are bound to see failure but what is most important is not the number of times you fail but what you gained from your failure. Is your failure teaching you that you can never be successful or it is letting you know where to buckle up and amend your ways. Is your failure a “hired assassin” that is putting its gun in front of your mind, that “O boy”, don’t get started. Let me tell you, you a have brighter future, a great dream and even greater things to achieve, but the worst harm, I mean the most dangerous thing you can do to yourself is never to get started. Why not start today, take action, believe you can do it and as always, I wish you happy success. - Patience:
Yeah! I know this world is a world of hurry, but why not stop deceiving yourself and change for the better. You really want to be successful and you are following the footstep of the majority, forgetting that the majority stands for failure. I don’t mind what people say, I will tell you what I have to say (even if you stop reading this blog because of this, I just don’t care). The majority represents failure (I repeat myself), why not stand out from the majority, separate yourself, and set yourself aside. Be an example for others to see, an example to learn from and don’t just blindly follow other people, don’t do it because they are doing it. Patience is very important than any other thing, you can call this age the “jet age” or any other thing to describe people being in a hurry for success, but, I am telling you the truth, there is no success in a hurry, there is nothing called “overnight success”, you have to work harder than you think, you have to be creative with new ideas and wait patiently to eat the fruits of your rewards. I might just decide to write a “usual” 150 words post this morning, but I realize myself, that if you don’t make another person successful, then you are not successful yourself. You might be the richest man on earth, but how many people became rich through you? Patience has its rewards and in fact, patience is not just for everybody, but anyone who decides to go the patience route will reap he rewards. Blogging success don’t come overnight, it might take months and mostly years but the most important thing is “the success”, why not wait patiently to reap your rewards. You already started, Right! You don’t need to go back; in fact, there is no room for going back. Your reward is right in front of you; wait patiently to reap the fruit of your labor. Don’t just destroy your bright future, your potential success, due to lack of patience, wait patiently and you will like yourself for it. - Dedication:
Yeah! You are a power blogger (I too am), but who is deceiving who, is it me or you? Let me just ask you, how many blogs do you have? 10! Right! You have 10 blogs but none of it has ever had close to 100 unique visitors a day, and you say you have 10 blogs, in fact you have none. I can never claim to have nothing unsuccessful, it might not be successful yet, but I know the future is bright and great (Well, I am Joseph, it means I dream well:)). You have to make sure your attention is focused on only one blog (except you are outsourcing the rest), but I don’t even think you can have 10 blogs while following your passion. It is good to have many “assets”, in fact, I have two blogs now (the other which is an auto blog) and I am planning to come up with another blog very soon, but all lies around the same passion and none will be competing with each other because they both have different audiences. All jokes apart:), you should not give two things the attention that is needed by one, you should not give two blogs the attention one is supposed to have because this will lead to you not working on any. You can work on several projects but make sure they don’t interfere with each other. For example, the other blog I will be creating is a type I will be doing virtually nothing on and it will always have unique content, the one I have now which is an autoblog does not need my time except for getting backlinks in order to increase search engine authority which leads to high rankings and in fact on the autoblog, I already have over 600 articles without writing a single one (I started it this month). Take your time, think well and give your blog the utmost dedication, it will lead to success. - Your Goal:
You might be surprised, but as a matter of fact, so many people don’t have goals, ask them what they want to be in the next 6 months or 1 year and they will just be starring at you. This is absolutely funny; I am always amazed to see human beings without goals. No goal = No future. Sincerely, if you fail to have a goal, I am sorry; you are digging your grave of failure. You just can’t be without a goal; you are not an animal, are you? I don’t think I am! You should have a goal for yourself, what you want to achieve within a particular time frame. It might look somehow, but it is usually impossible to dedicate yourself towards a project you don’t have a goal for, the project will be of no importance to you. You just have to have a goal, what you want to be in the future, what you want to achieve. You can’t just live without a goal, set a goal for yourself and begin to experience great levels of changes. - Consistency:
So many bloggers are not consistent and tend to give up after a little trial, you have to work hard in order to achieve success for yourself, and you have to be consistent. Consistency is the key. Success is not easy to come by, but if you can always try hard towards achieving one thing, then success is highly inevitable. Work hard, you never know what lesson you can learn from this. Another major key is that, it is not easy; I mean it. Success is not easy because if it was, everybody will be successful, every blogger will just be Darren Rowse at wish, they only need to say, “I want to be the problogger” and believe me it will just happen like that. If life were to be like this, where people just say things and they achieve it instantly, do you think this world will be enjoyable, and then there will be nothing called success? Anytime you are working towards something and you could not get results easily, just remember that success is not easy to come by and it only comes after months or years of hard work and consistency. You have to keep asking until it tells you it is no longer there. - Give Value:
I have no doubt this post has blessed you, because it blessed me too. I can’t expect to have the type of respect I will gain on this blog on my autoblog because I didn’t work on it and I am not giving value in any way, I just set it up so that it will bring in traffic and I can sell it later. But look at this blog, every blogger or everybody who knows me well knows I am working hard to get success for this blog. We all know what is in a name, do you think my name can be associated for giving great value and I will release a product for no one to buy? No way! In fact, people will be rushing to know what Onibalusi Bamidele has in stock for them. Your value is your work, I mean your efforts. Even on my autoblog, I still work on it by submitting it to directories to increase my chances of ranking higher in the search engines. You just have to work somehow, your value will speak for you, sooner or later, I repeat, your value will speak for you. Take a look at Glen Alsop, even the pros respect him. Glen is just 20 years old, and the value he gives, I bet you will have to beat him out to give the same. Look at him; he has a high rate of success with his blog just because he gives value. The best form of marketing I like is not SEO or guest posting or networking or any other form but “viral marketing” where one will bring two and two will bring four and four will bring eight e.t.c. before you know it, you are already a king over some set of people who made you king over themselves. Think about it, they love you because they love the value you give. I know I am not giving value yet as I expect to give, but someday I will just be there. Give value, you would not need to market yourself because people will do it for you. Just give value.

These are the keys to success Onibalusi, well stated.
Passion precedes greatness. Humans are emotional creatures who must really want to do something in order to do it well. Blogging can be a task unless you have a passion for it. If blogging becomes a task it’s a 4 Letter Word in my book: WORK. Yuck!
Of course blogging takes effort but it should never feel like hard work. If it does you’re in the wrong business.

Hi Ryan,
You are absolutely right, your passion is very important and passion precedes greatness as you said. I saw somebody who is making thousands of dollars a month from a blog and later said he does not have interest in the blog again, the passion is just not there so he sold the blog.
Blogging really takes effort but it really should never feel like hard work as you said.
Your comment is really inspirational.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
Onibalusi
Passion is really the key. Because if youre not passionate about it, all the other things you mentioned wouldn’t come. You’ll have not patience, you wont take action and etc.
Nice writeup.

Hi Melvin,
Glad to see you here. You are absolutely right, passion is the most important thing.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment.
I think what helps me get noticed, is that I spend time helping others. When someone leaves a comment, I’ll check out their blog and RT their posts if they are interesting. I don’t help expecting anything in return, but I notice that more I focus on helping others, the more openly people begin to share my posts.

Hi Bro,
I really appreciate you here!
As you said, I don’t really believe in following the audience, but real success comes from doing things “outside the box”, in a way that doesn’t resonate with what others are doing.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
Onibalusi
For becoming a successful blogger you need to be more social . Embracing social media is one of the main criteria. It gives lot of opportunities and means to be more involved and informative.
Yeah! exactly, Thanks a lot for the nice comment.
It all depends on what you get out of it. If blogging was my full time job, it might not be sexy. Based on how much you do and what you use your blog for (and your response), it seems that your blog is sexy for you as well!
great bro.passion will always make u take action.what of self-confidence? People have passion but loose confidence in themselvs.what do u say about that
