If I were to be approving spam…

Today’s post is somewhat funny, but you have to be unique in all you do. Everything should not just be work and work and work, there should be fun in what you do.

I was reading the comments on a particular post (about blogging mistakes) on Webmasters Success, I came across a comment made by Ms. Ileane, the comment is quoted below.

“Kharim, excellent points here. I’d like to add something I read about earlier today. Some new bloggers so very anxious to receive comments that they approve some comments and trackbacks that are actually spam by mistake. I remember that it took me a few days to recognize the spammers, now I can spot them pretty easily.”

If I were to approve spam, I know I will be having hundreds of comments on each post, what of you? If you were to approve spam, how many comments do you think you will get?

I have excepted spam. I assume because my blogs are lousy. I never get legitamate comments. I have to figure out how to just be better at writing and blogging I suppose. Sad thing is I am 51 years old and it is tuff to change the mind set. You all good luck in your blogging.

    • Hi Curtis,

I wouldn’t deny this; I do accept spam before, but I will rather prefer a post to have no comment than to have 5 spam comments.

Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
      -Onibalusi

  9. Verliebte says:

Hi Onibalusi (BTW does your name have a translation in English),
how does one determine which comment is spam and which is not. If somebody basically just wants a backlink but takes the 3 minutes it takes to read through the post and at least write a comment which relates to the original post, does that class among spamming?

    • Hi Verliebte,

It is funny I don’t know the meaning (;)).

You will determine a spam comment by the way it is written, it might be off topic, it might be “great posts”, and it might also be linking to adult sites and gambling sites.

The 3 minutes read might still be classed as a legitimate comment because the commenter has an idea of the post (who knows if He/She is in an hurry).

Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
      -Onibalusi

  10. If I have to approve spamming comment on my blog, I think 9I will approve up to 10 in a day.

  11. I am not yet sure if I know who spams and who doesnt. All I do is just accept them. I am still new at this and I am definitely getting some ideas that would help me on this. And you are one of those who is really helping me with your posts. I am so amazed that at a very young age you are this good at blogging.

    • Hi Ernest,

It is nice words like yours that keeps moving me forward.

Thanks so much for your nice words,
      -Onibalusi
