It was on a Tuesday Morning, I was having some thoughts (that almost killed me) and I almost wounded myself, this particular thought made my dash my foot upon a stone when trying to cross a river.
This is really frustrating, Isn’t it? What Type of Foolish thought do you have, You ask? Well, It is not bad. It isn’t foolish and before I continue, I would like to repeat a statement I have said earlier on this blog: “I don’t care if I lose my readers because of this”.
You know me, I love putting people into suspense (and I am at it again).
The Thought!
I was looking at most of my posts on this blog and I discovered many of them are lacking the essential Ingredient, They don’t give value. They are personal ramblings.
I discovered I am no Longer giving value, which is the main purpose this blog was Established
I also noticed one thing I am doing and it is common among many bloggers on the internet (I know they might deny it): We are not Living the Internet Lifestyle.
Truth is, Living the internet lifestyle is not all about making 5 or 6 figures, it is all about doing what you love when you want. If you are writing 3 posts on your blog a week, is it because you want it.
I will stop blogging when it becomes a burden on me. My blog should not just be a task or another job, It should be a comfort zone.
The Remedy
There is no problem without a solution so I have a remedy to the above problems.
1. Less Posts:I don’t care what people say, I would no longer write on this blog to meet up with time. If I see a post is not going to have impact on others then I would not post it, even if it means I would only post once in a month.
2. Valuable Posts: Trust me for this, Henceforth, every single post on this blog will have value in one form or the other and the one that will be going live after this one was written in around 7-8 hours. I can assure you will love it.
I already have about two great posts in my drafts so getting to update should be no problem.
My Blog is not Dead!
If you don’t see a post for weeks, my blog is not dead, it is intentional. I want to give value.
I understand people love great posts, but for now (due to my exam that will be ending on the fifth of July), I might not be able to post more than 1 posts in one week.
In a nutshell
This blog is not a job, and to me, blogging is not a task. I will call it a hobby, so I will post when it pleases my soul.
NOTE: I don’t swallow my words, every single post I will write on this blog from henceforth will give value in one form or the other, so you might want to subscribe to my list or in a reader (or via email if that is what you prefer) because I will be notifying both once my blog is updated
To Guest Authors
I would be turning down 99 percent of guest posts I receive. Since my blog is not a showroom or just anyplace, I believe my readers should get the best.
Over to You!
Ramblings, abuse, warmth, acceptance or anything. I would love to hear from you because I am doing it for you.
I presently believe I have not been giving value all this while so I want to change your lives.
PS: The next post will go live on Wednesday, I wrote in around 7-8 hours so you will definitely benefit from it.
Catch up in a reader so that you would not miss out.

Wow! Not much else to say…good for you! You had a mission in mind and felt you were getting off track and decided to recommit to it. It takes a big and COURAGEOUS person to do so.
First, just let me say that I’ve only just begun to visit your site recently and found it to be very valuable, entertaining and REAL. So although, this perception that you have not been giving value is real to YOU it may well not be the perception of others.
Keep up the great work and continue to find passion in what you do.
PS Good luck on your exams
Hi Michele,
Yeah! I really have a vision, which is to provide value.
Just wait till Wednesday and what you see will AMAZE you. The post is really packed and I will make sure my future posts are far better than that.
I write most of my blog posts here in around 30 minutes or less but when I wrote that which will be going live on Wednesday, I knew it was not easy to provide value (It took me over 7 hours).
Thanks a lot for your nice words and I really appreciate it.
Concerning my exams, I also pray for success
Thanks a lot,
-Onibalusi
Onibalusi!
I salute you.
I fully support your decision. I think it is important to have QUALITY, instead of QUANTITY.
Remember, This business is a marathon – not a sprint.
I see no harm in your decision. I will continue to visit your blog, and look forward to your great posts!
Kindest,
Nabeel
P.S.I did not understand this:
“I would be turning out %99 of guest posts I receive. Since my blog is not a showroom or just anyplace, I believe my readers should get the best.”
First, I think %99 is a typo.
Second, what do you mean by this statement. You will accept 99% of posts? Could you please explain?
Hi Nabeel,
You are absolutely right, quality is far better than quantity.
I really appreciate your decision, it make me feel loved. Thanks
“I would be turning out %99 of guest posts I receive. Since my blog is not a showroom or just anyplace, I believe my readers should get the best.”
What I meant is that, I do publish all guest posts I receive before so I will not be doing that again, I will be rejecting lots of guest posts and I will only accept that that can benefit my readers.
Hope you understand?
Thanks a lot,
-Onibalusi
Hi Onabalusi,
Thanks for the reply.
But, turning out means: produce quickly or regularly.
While I think you mean you will be turning DOWN/putting DOWN/declining/dismissing/denying 99% (99 Percent) of guests posts to maintain quality.
Is this correct?
If yes, then that’s great!
Kindest,
Nabeel

Hi Nabeel,
Yeah! You are right, I will check on this.
I discovered something special about you the first day you commented on my blog and that thing is that you are really engaging. I so much like this type of thing because you never make a blogger feel bored and it is also an encouragement.
I really appreciate all your comments.
Thanks a lot,
-Onibalusi
Onabalusi Thank You for your kind words!
I appreciate it!
And I see you have corrected your post. That’s fantastic!
I am looking forward to your post on Wednesday!
Kindest,
Nabeel
Hi Nabeel,
There is nothing better than serving (somewhat controversial
). Since I blog for my readers then I should be ready to take corrections when applicable (which is what I did to the post).
Wednesday’s post will really be great (It’s tomorrow).
Thanks a lot for the great post,
-Onibalusi
Onibalusi, it’s good you’re getting clarity on what you’ll do here.
You must be doing something right, because you have a decent amount of traffic, and they must like what you’ve been doing.
Hi John,
Thanks a lot for your nice comment. I know I am getting a good number of traffic but I am supposed to be getting more.
I discovered anytime I publish a post that is great, it goes viral and also has impact on the overall traffic of this blog but most of the posts I write now looks like rubbish, they don’t make me fulfilled. I don’t feel happy.
Just take a look at my old and new articles and you will notice the number of comments and retweets – even though my traffic is increasing, rather than decreasing, I still know I am doing something wrong.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment, I really appreciate it,
-Onibalusi
You have very good Alexa and Compete rankings…
Hi John,
You are absolutely right.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
-Onibalusi
Hi Onibalusi,
You’re making a wise choice which many established bloggers don’t have the courage to do.
I release on the “People will stop reading my blog if I don’t post on a daily basis” fear continually. The cool thing about the universe is that when you release one fear by following your intuition another door is opened to you. Being in the moment, away from the tension of forcing out a blog post someone may contact you with a business proposition or you might attract a creative idea, “Out of the blue.” It’s all about letting go of something you feel the need to do and replacing it with something you want to do.
I appreciate the quality of your work and am happy that you are trusting your gut instincts, they are never wrong and always lead you in the proper direction.
All the best Onibalusi!
Ryan
Hi Ryan,
You are absolutely right.
What is the essence of people reading my site for reading sake? If I bless people, then they will be more inclined to blessing me.
Glen at viperchill is really good at writing great posts and He is achieving success with this.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
-Onibalusi
I am impressed to see this. I just hope other bloggers around can take the same step you are taking.
There is only one thing that will set us(as individuals) and our blogs apart from others. Our BRAND! What you do, say and give really go a long way to define your brand.
Will people come back to your site? Will they tweet about you? Would they even drop a comment? The answer is in the value you provide.
Do you are setting the pace for other Nigerian bloggers in your niche? Keep stepping up your game-that’s what we, your readers want.
All the best!
Hi Seun,
You are absolutely right. I have done this when my blog was still small, I explicitly said “I don’t care if I lose my readers”, so my readers know me for that.
The REAL Thing is GIVING VALUE.
Thanks a lot for your nice words, I really appreciate it.
-Onibalusi
Hey Onibalusi,
Good work man. I can see how hard you are working. You have achieved so much in very short period of time. Keep it up. Rock on
.
Thanks for sharing this great Post.
~Dev
Hi Dev,
Thanks a lot for the nice words, I really appreciate it.
-Onibalusi
I did not get a clear reason why you decided to post once a week, maybe because I was two days following the blogs. I hope you’re all right.
any way, for me, one or two posts a week is not a problem, and the content quality was not always that provides great value to visitors.
I thought, I’m the same with the other visitors.
and one more, we will not run away from your blog, so do not be afraid.
Hi Rososusilo,
It is most probably
, Yeah! I am alright (kicking and bouncing
).
I really appreciate your kind words and support.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
-Onibalusi
Hello Onibalusi Bamidele, I really appreciate your mentality to make less quality posts than too many low quality posts. After reading this blog post I understood how much effort you have taken to make a single posts like this. I really liked this post since It has a deep meaning. When I started blogging, I too were doing like you. I have spend more than 5-10 hours for making a blog post and publish it on internet, but later I found It was not good for me since I’m blogging for earning. But for you blogging is a hobby and so taking long hours for making a blog post is quite fine. Thank you for this blog post which encourage me to post more quality posts on my blog.
Hi Pratish,
Yeah! You are right. I prefer quality over quantity.
I am also very happy this post has inspired you.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
-Onibalusi
I actually wondered how you juggled school work and blogging when it seemed as though you were posting everyday!
You gotta do what you gotta do, so I’m sure everyone completely understands. And like you said, quality is way better than quantity. So go for it. I’m with you on the part about blogging being a hobby so I definitely understand where you’re coming from and really you don’t want to lose sight of that, enjoy it and don’t rush it.
And all the best with your exams…
Hi Tola,
I have managed to do that due to my speed (:)).
Yeah! I surely will, It is not even a matter of time.
If I want to be writing two posts everyday, I surely can write them but the question is, “Will the post still have a purpose?” Traffic is great but I just don’t want free traffic, I want traffic I deserve, which is as a result of impacting lives.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
-Onibalusi
Don’t think that your blog lacks value. I feel your blog is informative. But if you think so then take your time and make some valuable posts. People like the way you write and so only you are getting traffic. So dont change the way you write alltogether. Take time. Think. Start Rocking.
Hi Mukundan,
Let’s see how everything goes
I really appreciate you sharing your opinion.
Thanks a lot for the great post,
-Onibalusi
I mean comment
Are you only interested in providing value for your readers or also entertainment or are they sometimes the same?
Because I think what Michele said in the beginning is very true. Some thing that might not seem relevant to you might be of interest for someone else.
I really find it impressive what you have build up here in your age.
Hi Bester,
I only want to provide value and I am also sure that will be entertaining
I really appreciate your opinion and you will really enjoy tomorrow’s post.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
-Onibalusi
Hi Onibalusi! I appreciate your true heart words. I totally agree with you that we should not treat blogging as a job that will give us a lot of stress. Blogging should be a relaxing activity for us. I start to love blogging now. I hope to see your progression in this blog. Best wishes to you!
Hi Kok,
Yeah! You are absolutely right, I personally see that in your blog because you blog when you like. That is really great and I will be implementing that on this blog.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
-Onibalusi
I completely agree with you about the idea of lifestyle – whether it’s the ‘internet lifestyle’ that people aspire to or just a lifestyle that allows people to spend time doing what they want, with the people they care about – surely that’s a more valuable currency that just money alone!
I enjoy your blog and do think you add great value, otherwise I wouldn’t feel it was worth my time reading your mailings and checking out all your comments. Good for you though – make sure you’re doing what you do for the right reasons!
Hi Nick,
You are absolutely right about the internet lifestyle, I think many go with the majority (which I also am guilty of).
I really appreciate your nice words and every single word of encouragement helps me to do more.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
-Onibalusi
I love that you’re making this commitment. The previous comments said so many things that I wanted to!
We absolutely should strive for value – quality over quantity. I also think it’s really important to step back and look at yourself with a critical eye once in a while. It’s really easy to get sidetracked from your purpose if you don’t.
Looking forward to reading your new and improved posts!
Hi Jillian,
You are absolutely right, looking at your blog with a critical eyes once in a while might be what it takes.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
-Onibalusi
Very nice post. I can really related to that.. I think creating value is a great thing to focus on. I enjoy reading and writing blog
I think you can learn many great things from people. Thanks for sharing this Onibalusi.
Hi Justin,
Yeah! Providing value is really the most important thing, other things will follow.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
-Onibalusi
Well said.
Best of luck with your endeavor.
But I am sure you will come up with lots of great posts to come.
Hi Stefan,
Yeah!
Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
-Onibalusi
I actually had a similar accident many years ago – I stepped on a broken bottle at the base of a creek, gashed my foot wide open (still have bad memories of it).
Although I didn’t have the same ‘blogchanging’ experience as you did, it does place a lot of things into perspective. The world can take away as easily as it gives.
For your blog, remember that you do this for the love. If you take an few extra days to write, it just means you have more life experience to put into the post
Hi Murlu,
My Point is: Blogging should not be a burden, If i am writing 3 posts a week as a must then I must re-think my strategies, I will rather write 1 great post in one month than 1 filler post every day.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
-Onibalusi
You don’t need to be afraid, it used to happen like that, with determination and more time you will get there…
hi Luqman,
I discovered I am deviating from my main aim for this blog so I decided to retrace.
Thanks so much for the concern,
-Onibalusi
