I Have a Problem – Do you?

If  you have been reading youngprepro for sometimes now, you will notice I always change my theme. I must personally confess, I have changed my theme more than 5 times on this blog only, and it is as a result of one great problem I have, I really love this problem and I will advice you also to do so. Below are my reasons.I have a problem

What is the Problem?

Never settle for less, you are not destined for mediocrity nor failure, you are destined for the top, don’t try to settle for just anything because of this and that.

It has been observed that some readers will stop reading your blog f you start making some changes too often but you know that your blog is not in the perfect condition you want it to be.

After all, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and if you could not find your site interesting and if it does not look beautiful then why should you expect it to look beautiful in the eyes of your readers.

Care but Don’t Care!

Many of you know me as that boy who doesn’t care and many of you know that I truly, sincerely and genuinely care.

I don’t care because I don’t want “that nonsense” (I mean nonsense). I was reading a particular piece by Sonia Simeone, which was about 5 great things to help you achieve success with your products. Here is an excerpt from the post below.

Rule #2. Don’t get thrown off by complaints

Trust me, you could offer a pill that actually gives eternal life for one dollar, and people will despise you for “just trying to make a buck.”

The same people will get angry no matter how hard or soft your sell. And the people you really care about — the ones who will become your customers — need you to communicate clearly and without a lot of apology.

So sell the benefits, make your case, and tune out the negativity and the whiners. If someone crosses the line and gets nasty, go in and manually unsubscribe them. You don’t need that nonsense.

Here is a link to the post if you like to read it.

Why Should You Care?

I must tell you the truth, the only thing I believe should be able to make you lose a reader should be when you are writing absolutely rubbish on your blog.

If some people are always getting pissed off at anything you do, if you change your theme, they will complain, if you launch a product they will complain, they will complain no matter what you do – Then they are “the nonsense” and you don’t need them.

In a nutshell!

Don’t be satisfied with mediocrity, don’t just stay in one place, one of the greatest element of success in life is change, you should keep on changing and changing until you find the perfect balance in life.

One of the most deadly mistake you will ever commit is trying to please any man, why should you?

Since it is absolutely impossible to please anybody (at least, not on earth), then keep doing what you are doing, keep progressing.

I didn’t say it please!

Please, the main point of this post is not to try to tell you not to be getting feedback from your readers.

Getting feedback is really great and is one of the most important element to your success.

What I am trying to say is that if it is because of loosing a reader or this or that, that you are not trying to make a major change that will change your life forever, then you are deceiving yourself and preparing for utter failure.

PS: Pardon my formatting, The message in this post is so great that I have to nail some points – I am also using the opportunity to test my new theme :) .

    Hi Onibalusi,

I like your new theme and take on the having a problem issue. Nice pic too ;)

Feedback stops being feedback when it’s negative and hurtful. Try not to let a person miserable with their lives take you with them. Keep your voice and continue speaking with authority.

I experienced negativity on my blog and Facebook page the other day and was happy with my response, namely not engaging.

It pushed me on to work even harder, so I thank the gentleman for strengthening my resolve.

    Ryan

    • Hi Ryan,

Yeah! That is really true, negative feedbacks are not really great cos it brings depression instead of encouragement.

Thanks a lot for your nice words, I really appreciate it,
      -Onibalusi

  3. Hi Onibalsui,

I like this theme better than the previous one.

I see no problem in change, provided it is for the better.

And I can see this change is for the better.

The comment reply section is looking better than ever.

    Kindest,
    Nabeel

    • Hi Nabeel,

I am glad you liked it :)

Yeah! Change is necessary and there shouldn’t be any problem once it is for good.

Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
      -Onibalusi

  4. I think the new theme does suit the blog quite good. And about negative feedback, well those are part of our blogging life. All bloggers get negative feedback since bloggers express their views in their posts and maybe some people may have issues with that view cos they maybe of the alternative view. I agree, negative feedback does try to make a blogger discourage but I think we should not get discouraged about it, infact we should take it as a lesson learnt. Keep of the good work bro :)

    Regards,
    Shiva

    • Hi Shiva,

Yeah! The new theme is really beautiful and Dev was the one who got it for me.

Concerning negative feedback, You are absolutely right. Blogging is about expressing your views so you definitely will get one.

Thanks a lot for the nice comment,

Hi Onibalusi! I like this new theme. Don’t worry about this! I believe that you can make it better. I love these words:”One of the most deadly mistake you will ever commit is trying to please any man, why should you?”
I totally agree with these words. We cannot please anyone, but we can please ourselves! Thanks for sharing!

    • Hi Kok,

Yeah! Never try to please any man since it is not possible.

Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
      -Onibalusi

  7. Ur theme is nice. But I suggest you to make a good design for your logo. At present it looks simple. When you get time think about it.

    • Hi Mukundan,

You are absolutely right. it is on my to-do list and I really appreciate your observation.

Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
      -Onibalusi

  8. Nice theme my friend. Just don’t care about what they are saying but give them a good thing that they won’t forget from you and your blog.

    - Felix Albutra

    • Hi Felix,

      Yeah! You are absolutely right.

Thanks a lot for the nice comment,

    • Hi Bro,

That is really great. I got it for free at themesheep.com

      -Onibalusi

  10. Joe Boyle says:

I think if you’re readers leave because you changed something like your theme, they weren’t dedicated readers, anyway. Of course, you want as many readers as possible, but if it’s just one or two, they’re not worth it.

    Great post!

  11. You are right, until you reach your comfort zone, you should replace it. I done the same today by replacing my old design with my new CSS3 work.

  12. Steve says:

My problem is that I’m never ever satisfied with my themes, I constantly want to change things. I just change them however and don’t worry too much, it just the way my personality is.

    S

  13. Hey Onibalusi changing theme is no big deal unless you do it frequently. I know what you are going through. I used to change my themes more often but I do not do so now.

You must do one thing. Settle for a good design and improve it in time. Adding features etc. Keep the basic theme same and just add features. This way your readers feels you are stable.

  14. I love the new look, in fact it attract me to post more and more on your blog and it better by far to the other ones. I used to change my blog templates anytime I find a new one that is more beautiful and more attractive one.

  15. Hi Onibalusi,

I don’t think you’re going to lose any readers, so what if you’ve changed your theme a lot of times? You’re just trying to find the RIGHT theme that matches your voice here at YoungPrePro and there’s nothing wrong with that. Once you settle on one, you’ll never regret it.

I’ve gone through a couple blog themes myself, and am very happy I did… because if I didn’t I wouldn’t have the theme I have now, one that I’m VERY pleased with.

Thanks for another inspiring post Onibalusi :)

    • Hi Jonathan,

Yeah! You are absolutely right, but I did lose readers because of that (not painful though).

Thanks a lot fr the nice comment,
      -Onibalusi

  16. Iraqi Dinar says:

Well i hope this new theme is really going suit your website…

  17. Thanks for sharing good article, but i didn’t suffer all those yet, also not desire to :)

  18. Seun Kilanko says:

You were damn right with all that you said here. The greatest harm you can do to yourself is to try to please people at the expense of yourself. You are the director of your blog and your primary job is to direct whatever goes on here. You must first suite yourself before you now think of people watching.

In a way, creating value has to go along with constant creative and exciting changes. I like your theme. The only place I’ll want you to look into is, the links in your post don’t seem to be visible to the eye. They have the same font colour to the other ones that are not links. You could adjust the code to change their colour so your readers can easily differentiate a link from a normal word. If I’m not mistaking, your former theme used to have it’s text links as red. Hope you understand what I’m talking about?

    Weldone!

  19. William Veasley says:

    Hey Oni,

    Your site’s theme looks amazing.

I think there is always room for change, because as you mentioned change is a GOOD thing. I think I understand the message of this article.

I believe all feedback is positive feedback, I think you should just be grateful you have any feedback at all. Someone might say something negative, but you at least deserve to give them the right of taking it into consideration.

Now, if it’s not something you believe then forget about, I have always believed in.. “doing you” I mean that is what got you to level your blog’s at today. No one did that for you but, “you”.

So, it’s only fair you trust your own instincts. Most of all is “your” blog so you should be able to do whatever you like with it.

    Do you not agree?

    • Hi William,

Yeah! You are absolutely right here, getting feedback is even okay, it is a sign of you progressing.

      I totally agree with you.

Thanks a lot for the nice comment,
      -Onibalusi

  20. William Veasley says:

    Hey Oni,

Might I also add, how did you get your theme for free at themesheep? The only free one is the one I’m using, well at least I thought.

    • Hi William,

Yeah! I also think that is the only free theme they have.

The current theme I am using is not from themesheep.

      Thanks a lot,
      -Onibalusi
