Leaving comments on dofollow blogs especially frequently indexed ones with good PR, creating a sitemap and pinging Google, registering your blog with Google Webmasters Tool are also great ways of getting indexed by the search engines.
Remember that the social bookmarking sites DON’T dofollow links and so Google will most defiitely in some cases need dofollow links(which = trust) from trusted sites to index your sites quickly

Great post. I have been using social bookmarking sites for a few months, but not all of the ones you mentioned.
To get indexed I use both link building and on-page. This works pretty well. Maybe I should add to my bookmarking sites and see if I get it indexed faster.
Do think it matters if you get the votes from sites like digg? (not more traffic but for google) I get almost no votes for any of these sites.

@element321, Yes, if you can get so many votes from sites like digg, it can result in you getting thousands and tens of thousands of visitors to your blog on a single day, social bookmarking sites are great. Also, twitter should not be underlooked, it has great potential of sending hundreds and thousands of visitors a day.

hay thanks for the post and for the list too. Yes it quite true that digg, stumble and other social book marking sites are regular crawled by the Google and other search engine. Good job…
