VERY IMPORTANT TIPS AND TRICKS

Very Important Tips And Tricks

Here are some tips when promoting your ads on PPC search engines.

We have talked about how to use Google Adwords to make a profit. This section provides some information on how to increase that profit considerably by utilizing the following Google Adwords tips and tricks. Some of this is specific to features in Google, but most of it applies to all the PPC search engines.

Money Management

• When first starting out using PPC search engines, be sure to keep your bids low. You should start out bidding $0.10 and be sure to never pay more than $0.30. Of course as you become more familiar with the system you can adjust your bids accordingly. As you learn, you will know when to drop a keyword and when to raise your bids for one that is generating a good profit.

• Your goal here is to be getting a 40%-50% and better net return on your advertising campaigns. Let’s say your promoting a product that makes you $20/sale, and a certain keyword takes 50 visitors to get the sale, then a 100% return would put you at $0.20 per click. In other words, you paid $10 to earn $20.

• Remember while you are learning the system, you’ll want to keep your accounts funded at the lowest amount possible. Many search engines allow you to set a daily budget. This way, you can keep your costs limited to what you have to spend. Take note, some search engines state that their daily budget only represents an average monthly budget. In other words, if a keyword is very popular, your daily budget could go over by 10%-20% for a particular day, but as long as the amount you spend in one month is below that of your cumulative daily budgets, the search engine will not reimburse you.

• Take the time and watch your ads. This is crucial. If an ad is not making money, you should try another ad copy or try another product altogether. The idea is to optimize as necessary. Once you have found a good profit producing ad, you can just let it sit there and bring in continuous revenue on autopilot. You should still check from time to time, however, as demand may change. Also login to your Clickbank account and see if the sales are adequate.

• Do not spend any more then $50 in a PPC campaign for a particular product without seeing a return on your investment. This would be your sign to find a new product to promote or change the ad up.

• If you have close margins then you should disable the Content Match section that serves your ads on partner sites (AdSense traffic.) Partner sites can bring in a lot of traffic, hence, making you spend more. The traffic is generally cheaper but may not be as targeted, depending on the type of product you are promoting.

• If you aren’t concerned with price and you want the most amount of traffic possible then enable the Content Partners (Google AdSense.)

Keywords

• Remove the poor performing keywords that aren’t receiving any clicks, as they will drag the overall click through rate down, and you don’t want this. Google will consider your keywords and ads “less relevant”, and will place your ads lower on the ranking positions. You want to keep the ones that have good click through rates. Click through rate (also known as CTR), means the number of times your ad is displayed before somebody clicks on it. This is measured by percentage. Let your ads runs for a while, and then you want to remove the keywords that have a lower click through rate than the others. By doing this, your overall CTR will be higher, and Google will reward you for being more “relevant” and it will cost you less, and your ad will also be displayed higher as a result and more often!

• Its a must, that you take some time and read over the website or websites that you will be promoting. After familiarizing yourself with them, pick your main keywords that you will be using. Then use the tools to find all the variations of those keywords.

• Create as many keywords as possible. The more keywords and keyword variations you create, the better chance you have of grabbing new markets and low bid prices. Be sure to use Google’s exact matching for your keywords. This often produces some extra traffic at lower costs.

For example: Make Money, “Make Money”, [Make Money]

To automatically generate exact matching keywords, try Adwords Wrapper

• Create keywords variations by finding synonyms. You can use the synonyms feature in Microsoft Word or you can try a synonym tool on LexFN.com.

• You can create keywords and keyword variations using online tools. Create keywords from misspellings and abbreviations. Potential customers often search for products or topics through abbreviations and they misspell the keyword as well. Did you know that misspellings can often double your click through rate?

Following are examples of Abbreviations:

For “Return on Investment” type “ROI”

For “Television” type “TV”

Following are examples of misspellings:

For “Dating”
Dsting, Datnig, Dting

For “Business Opportunity”
Busines Opportunity, Business Opportunitie, Business Oportunity

Following are examples using variations of a word:

For “online”
on-line, on line, online

A good tool to use for misspellings is Typo Generator.

• Remove some keywords that you think are too general. Keywords such as “make money”. Not everyone who wants to make money wants to type and do data entry. Some people are looking to get rich quick and make millions instead. So target your keywords, such as “make money from home” or “type from home moms” instead of too generalized single worded keywords. The more specific your keywords are (such as “making money typing from home”) the less money you will spend unnecessarily, and the less irrelevant clicks you will receive.

• Use Negative Keywords. When running a Google AdWords campaign, it is crucial to include negative keywords. This is particularly true if any of the keyword phrases in the ad campaign are broad- or phrase-matched. Negative keywords cause an ad to not be shown if any of the keywords are in the search phrase. This is important for a few reasons. Firstly, because the ad will not be shown for keyword phrases that are not relevant, there will be fewer click throughs that do not convert to sales. Second, the overall CTR (click through rate) will be higher because there will be fewer instances of searchers viewing the ad but not clicking. The higher CTR will cause the ad to attain a higher position without requiring a higher CPC (cost per click). For example, suppose you are promoting our site, you will want to use the following negative keywords:

free
no-fee
kids
teens
no fees

People searching for these types of keywords generally won’t be interested in paying for work at home information, so it would not make sense to pay for their clicks.

• Using your keywords in your ads is known to give a much higher conversion rate.

• Constantly add fresh keywords to your ads, and get rid of the ones that are not performing.

• Incorporate your domain name into your keywords. Millions of people search the Internet based on web addresses.

• Capitalize the First Letter In Every Word. This can greatly increase the response.

• Find keywords and keyword variations by reading through a glossary or index of a book relating to your subject.

• Use action-based and price comparison keywords. For example ‘buy television’ ‘purchase laptop’ ‘cheapest ipod’ People searching for these types of keywords are already interested in buying and it should be easier to generate a sale.

• Bid on the product name keywords. For example, if you were promoting LegitOnlineJobs you could bid on ‘LegitOnlineJobs’ or ‘Legit Online Jobs’. People searching for these keywords are already interested in the product and would like to purchase. These words won’t generate many clicks, but the clicks can be very profitable.

General Tips

• Copy Others Ads. This is one of the best tips for creating the best ads. Take a look at the top ads of the keywords you are interested in. These ads are most likely at the top because they are doing well and are profitable. So why not duplicate their success. You can combine a couple of the top ads to create your own high performing ad.

• Use numbers, quotes or relevant symbols in your ads. These can make your ads stand out among the standard text.

• Tell potential buyers why they shouldn’t bother with any of the competition. Here’s an example:

Make Money Online?

Find Out Which One Works!

• Create Winning Headlines. Remember the ad is all about the headline, if you’ve got a great headline, people will click it, it doesn’t matter what the description says. If you’ve got a bad headline, people generally aren’t going to click on the ad, no matter what the rest of it says. Always do a quick search on Google to see what other people are using.

• When you have an ad that’s producing well, you’ll want to try to duplicate that success elsewhere. Try to think about where else you could use that ad. The more places you have the successful ads running, the more streams of income you will have.

• Continually be run split tests. This means running two ads for each product. Vary each ad just a bit. Test both ads to determine which one has the highest CTR. After about 40 clicks on each you should have enough data to determine which one is the better performing ad. Drop the poor performing ad, and start testing a new ad against the one you kept. Keep doing this to get your CTR as high as possible. Remember the higher your CTR, the less you pay for your clicks. This is only so for Google.

It is important that if you go against the Pareto rule then you must bid on a great deal of keywords and keyword variations. Find out which keywords make you money and focus on those keywords. You can also incorporate “” and [] keyword matching options to create more detailed keywords which will be less expensive in the long run. To do this you will have three variations for each keyword.

• The click through rate you have earned on AdSense doesn’t affect your bid prices or minimums on Google Adwords.

• Google AdWords has a lot of great features at your disposal. The features include:

• Create specific campaign information for one or more campaigns

• Optimize advertisement usage by selecting to run the best advertisements more often

• Option of where to show advertisements and in different languages

• Create groups where you can see the number of clicks for the group

• Conversion tracking – track which advertisements and keywords lead to the most conversions

• Create different reports for the Keywords, Ad Text, Ad Image, URL, Account, Campaign, Ad Group, and custom information

Finding Relevant Keywords

So now you know how to pick the sites you want to promote. Now you’ll want to pick out the best keywords to use in your PPC Ads. Picking the right keywords is a very important step of the process. These are the keywords that people will be using to search for your links to the products in Clickbank. What you’re going to try to do is to think of keywords that prospective buyers would use in a search engine when they are looking for that kind of product.

So now onto the keyword selection. One of the best methods to use is to simply read the website you want to promote. As you read it, write down keywords or short phrases that you think people would use when searching for that site. If you were doing that to the www.dataentryforall.net site then you could come up with some keywords like these:

Online Jobs
Paid Surveys
Ways to Make Money
Work At Home Jobs
Work From Home
Make Money Typing
Make Money At Home

Just having a few isn’t enough, however. You’ll want to have a whole set of relevant keywords. You see, the more you have, the more chances you have of getting a prospective buyer. So once you have the the keywords you came up with after reading the site, you want to use some of the tools below to expand on your list. The following tools make adding to your list a very simple process.

IMPORTANT TIP: Use common word variations. If you have a word like Drive, then also use Drove, Driven, Driving, etc. You’ll also want to use the common misspells like allot, a lot, alot, etc.

Wordtracker Keyword Tool

Word tracker’s free version of their keyword tool. Definitely the best one available, showing you the estimated daily search volume across various ppc engines for any keyword you type in. This is a must if you are using the pay per click method.

Overture Keyword Tool

Type in your keyword and this tool will tell you all the variations of that keyword and how many times it was search for the preceding month. You can use that a good gauge as to how popular that particular keyword is.

Google AdWords Keyword Tool

Type in one or more keywords in this tool and Google will give you all the possible combinations of that keyword. This will help you find many more keywords pertaining to the ones you put in.

These next ones are NOT free like the two above. But you definitely get what you pay for! I don’t recommend these until AFTER you are making profits. Then they will just make you even more money:

Lower Your Bid Price

This a GREAT tool to find those random keywords that you never would have thought of. It has a lot of features and comes with an inexpensive trial. Personally, I use this one a lot.

Wordtracker

This is another great tool for digging out keywords. You can get a free trial and test it out.

AdWord Equalizer

This tool is really a great one to have. It’s not cheap, but it does a lot of things including showing you what the hottest search terms are, what products are being promoted with those search terms, how much the cost-per-click is on some of the smaller search engines and so much more (In order to experience a great spike in your online business you really need to get this one).

Thanks for the article, placing a budget on your keywords and measuring the ROI is very important in measuring the success rate of your PPC campaign.
