7 Robust WordPress Shopping Carts

James came up with a great idea of 7 robust wordpress shopping carts. You might think of starting a membership site or selling a product, maybe now or in the future, then this post if for you.

The days of selling your stuff through eBay and Amazon are waning. Whilst these are still valuable sales tools, they have begun to lose some of their shine as sellers flock to these venues and drive down prices. shopping cartWhat that leaves one with is building one’s own ecommerce solution and that can be time consuming and expensive – especially if you are selling a limited variety of items.

Since blogging has attracted so many steady readers, it only makes sense that people would begin to use blog posts to sell their wares – and that means it was only a matter of time before some entrepreneurial spirit would come along and develop shopping cart software that would work right in the blogging software. With WordPress being in the top tier of blogging software, it only made sense that developers would write ecommerce solutions that work within WordPress – turning the blogging software into sales software.

1. WP e-Commerce Plug-in: With over a half-million downloads, this is a powerful plug-in that makes creating a sales space within WordPress simple, yet robust. It offers a wide range of features including SSL compatibility, customization and merchandising, integrated payment processing solutions including Google Checkout and PayPal, and email marketing.

2. StorePress: StorePress integrates easily with your WordPress blog and uses a theme to create a shopping interface. It is compatible with Google Checkout and PayPal and incorporates sidebars to list shopping categories and image galleries. It also provides links to the customer’s shopping cart as well as checkout.

3. eShop Plugin for WordPress: This plugin provides a simplicity for those who are not comfortable creating their own store. It uses WordPress pages and posts to create products making the creation portion of sales simpler and faster. It gives the ability to create multiple options for a product, upload electronic download products, provides basic sales statistics, and can download sales data to your computer.

4. ShopperPress: Again, making shopping cart software simple to install and use adds to this software’s attractiveness. ShopperPress does this by making the shopping cart software a theme that can be easily installed and maintained. One of its strongest advantages is that it combines the merchant software along with an SEO tool to create a more comprehensive ecommerce solution that can actually help draw customers to your blog. It was created with the idea of turning your WordPress blog into a total ecommerce store and supports multiple payment options.

5. YAK Shopping Cart: This plugin gets its strength from its simplicity. It has three screens: one for showing orders, one for fulfilling them, and one for maintaining product management. Not as robust as many, but being much simpler to install and use than many ecommerce solutions may make this a good choice for those without a lot of technical know-how.

6. PHPurchase: If your goal is to develop your blog into a complete online sales presence, this may be the product for which you are looking. It manages everything from sales to shipping and integrates with WordPress. One of the most powerful features available is the ability to create multiple stores and to add greater customization than most e-commerce software for WordPress. It is best for those who are comfortable with customizing WP and are looking to create a complete package rather than sales as a sideline.

7. WP Auctions for WordPress: Of course, there are those out there who sell one-of-a-kind products that are hard to place a price upon. For those, auction software may be the best choice – and a lot better choice than the auction flea-market eBay has become. This software allows you to auction your wares or services without paying listing fees to auction sites. It lets you run the auction the way you want to run your auction.

WordPress has made blogging simpler. Third parties have made selling through blog posts easier. Between the two, ecommerce has become available to a greater number of people who are looking to avoid exorbitant fees, restrictions, and requirements. Choosing the right ecommerce software for WordPress in important, so be sure to check out each of the products available to ensure you get the right one for your sales opportunities.

    Hi

As a matter of interest, you mention YAK as “Not as robust as many”. Just wondering whether that’s based on an issue you’ve experienced or read about? It would be good to know, so I can add it to the list of future improvements.

    Thanks,
    Jason

Out of the seven plugins you have listed, I have only tried two- the one by Instinct and eShop. I found that neither was robust enough to accomplish what I need it them to accomplish.

Since I have been using OpenCart for my clients never looked back at trying to implement shopping cart on WordPress.

  15. GeorgeS says:

OpenCart is so much better for e-commerce than WP with plug-ins in regards to business work flow and product management but I wanted to have a blog section as well for SEO and customers. I just found this web developer which has an Opencart blog plug-in for around $18: http://opencart.hostjars.com/modules
I know it is not a lot of money but I’d appreciate some feedback from people who have tried it.

  16. Valuable list for Ecommerce businessman’s. these shopping cards are best authentic links we can use for our business.
